Removing Default (Orange)

Good Afternoon,
I'm new so please be gentle.
I wondered if anyone could please give me some adivise on the follwing matter?
3 years ago I moved house at the same time as my mobile phone contract was due to expire. Everything was fine and got on with the house move etc. About 2 months ago I recieved a letter from a debt collection agentcy stating that I owed Orange just under £200!! I phoned the debt collection company and paid it straight away. Now I'm not sure what happened, whether it was my fault or not, or must miss judged the end date of the contact. Since the end of the contract though I've since had another Orange phone!!
I want to get the default removed from my record, but I'm not sure how to go about it? I've sent an email to several high placed directors asking if this could be removed from my credit record. I was pretty honest and went for the sympathy vote.
Do you think I'll get anywhere with the removal? Have people managed to get defaults removed in the past? The think that really annoys me is that I had an Oranfe mobile again, so surely tracking me down before it got to debt collection should have been simple?
Kindest Regards
Tim

If you did make an error in judgement then it'll be unlikely that the default will be removed unfortunately. The only ones who can remove it are Orange/the DCA 9depending on who placed it on your file), and it's entirely at their discretion.0

Thank you for your help. This may be a stupid question, but how do I find out who placed the default?0 -
