Aw.... Well done Iguana.
I'm sure it must be very very tough - but you've done so well - what else would you like with the money you are saving....
Get something in mind to keep you focused.
Well done.

OK,
I was going to post just to say I don't think I've achieved anything but everyone on this thread has done so well and is so inspiring.
But then looking through it made me realise that I have made some major changes:
1. Cut back drastically on takeaways from at least one a week to now perhaps one a month.
2. Started to recycle
3. Discovered Stardrops, white vinegar and microfibre cloths
4. Cut down on the use of store carrier bags
5. Gone through the cupboards to see exactly what we have and stop buying just what we fancy
6. Stopped buying junk such as DVD's / CD's etc..
7. Take time to think about what I buy and then think again for another week to make sure we really want / need it
8. Grown tomatoes for the first time
9. Bought and started to use a slow cooker
10. Planning meals better so that we throw less food out
11. Got a washing line and indoor airer for the first time and used them instead of the TD
But in all honesty I think the biggest one is that I found this board, received massive support and met other like minded people so I don't feel so alone. :TYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -
I only joined the site late on in the year and lost track of it over the holidays due to personal tragedies (OH got diagnosed with ME in November, and on Christmas morning my 21 month old niece became a victim of cot-death), so I'm only just getting back into the swing of it.
So far I'd say these are my achievements:
Cook from scratch 80% of the time and refuse to buy takeaways/convenience food
Pinched a breadmaker off my mother and now make occasional loaves and pizza bases
Am more organised at keeping receipts - food, petrol & other
Discovered Stardrops (o:
Discovered Quidco and am trying to make the most of it!
Started a local mountain bike club with over 20 members now (not OS I know, but gave me a real confidence and motivation boost!!)
Small victories, but victories non-the-less and there are dozens of things I want to achieve in 2007, I can't wait to fill in the "OS achievements of 2007" thread, i'll be bursting with news!!0 -
Ok. In 2006 I....
Stopped buying take aways
Stopped buying ready made pizzas
Stopped throwing food away
Learnt how to meal plan
Got brave enough to make lasagna, roast chicken, curry, chicken stock (using carcass) and got brave enough to stop clinging to recipes so much.
I also learnt some extra uses for vinegar, found stardrops.
In fact thanks to all you guys on this forum I became much more confident in my cooking ability and last week OH said "you're becoming quite a good little cook aren't you" :rolleyes:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
God not much compared to some of you lol! I really admire the chamges you've made
Well done!
* Menu planning (most of the time) and never going shopping without a list
* Cut takeaways down from once a week to once a month
* Not bought any cakes, have made from scratch
* Only dealing with cash, no cards
* Made birthday cards for family with DD
* Recycled more
Don't think i've done anything else
I'm determined to do more this year though, espcially as money will be really tight when we (hopefully) buy a house. I want to learn to sew, be more adventurous with cooking and also convert Boyf into the O/S ways (probably the hardest task lol)
