I want to grow my hair

Options
I really want to grow my hair. At the moment its just below my earsand short around the sides (sort of shaped down my face from a fringe) but is all different lengths!
Its quite fine and I normally have a perm (to make it look thicker and give it the bounce it lacks).
I told my hairdresser I want to grow it to one length (shoulder ?) and asked her to just trim it from now on.
She doesn't really understand English and says yes..............then just cuts it short again. I did get the word written down for her 'TRIM', she said 'Oh yes' and cut it short again saying it suited me better.
How do I cope with it at different lengths while its all scraggy growing out and how long will it take to get it all the same?

Im no expert but if you want your hair to grow dont you need to stop cutting it?

Just out of interest when the hairdresser cut your hair how you didnt want it I bet you paid for it? did you? I refused once as it was done how I didnt want it, I ended up finding another place to go for my hair cut.

You still need to cut it when it's growing, otherwise you end up with a dry frizzy mess on the ends!

Just ask for 1 centimetre to be cut off. I've got long hair that I hate losing, and that's all I ask for.

If your current hairdresser can't manage this, it might be time to change to one who can understand what you want.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Maybe change hairdressers??

I'm kinda in the same boat, I'm trying to grow mine too. It's just below my ears at the mo, I got a funky layered bob shape cut in. Now everytime I visit the hairdressers, they just trim the very ends and straighten it up for me. I'm trying to get the sides to grow down first, then the back will follow.

wash your hair everyday with a mild shampoo- baby is best.also make sure you deep condition it every week and if possible massage the roots with almond oil once a week.Your hair should start to grow quicker, also have you tried perfectil vitamins they do work!

Yep, did pay up. Its looks nice when she does it and I'm happy with that, its just I want to grow it, so it must be trimmed regular, then she over does the 'trim' bit.
I used to be a hairdresser many years ago and must admit even to today I am very heavy handed with the sissors myself. People moan at me (friends and not a lot of moaning because I don't charge them).
Nearly all my local hairdressers at the moment are Eastern Europeans. I pay £15.50 every 6 weeks for a 'trim'. The only other place nearby is £27.75. I don't want to pay that every 6 weeks!!!!
I am going to try to find out if our local college does hairdressing and advertises for models, that should be more reasonable......................and I quite fancy being a model at my age.................
