He should either be able to use it up within his notice period or get paid for it in his final salary payment..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I think normally people take this holiday in their notice period so can therefore leave 10 earlier or leave it 10 more days before he hands in his notice. However it may be possible for him to get paid the holiday owed. Dig out his employment contract should tell you about terminating the contract.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

As long as the holiday is the amount which has accrued between the start of the firm's holiday year and the date your husband leaves the job, he should be paid for it (or can take it at the end of his notice period). His staff handbook/employment contract should clarify it.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Yes.....
Normally however it it the employer's choice whether he must take the holiday during his notice period or be paid for it after he leaves.
It would be unusual for an employment contract to hand this choice to the employee but there is often scope for negotiation.
Either way he cannot lose the accrued holiday.0 -

Do not do this - if the employer does not agree the holiday the employee would have difficulty starting the new job in time (unless was planning to take holiday in between the two equivalent to at least the holiday still to be taken).0 -

I agree with this it would be too risky unless you are 100% sure that the terms of employment allow this and the amount of days owed.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
If his holiday year runs from August - July then he can get paid for them or take them during the notice period. If the holiday year runs any other months that amount may need to be recalculated to confirm how many days he has accrued and how many that leaves him to take/be paid for. It may be (if his contract states so) that he will need to pay any he has taken but not accrued back to the employer from his last paycheck.
Ask the HR department to confirm how many days he has left.0 -
I'm due to leave my work next month (fixed term contract ending) and I'm being paid for any holiday remaining.0
