Will moving my current account affect mortgage application?

Hi all,

This is my first post but I'd be very grateful for any advice.

I was thinking of moving my current account to First Direct for the £125 they're currently paying out. However, I also intend to apply for my first mortgage in the next few months. Does anyone know if a recent change of current account is likely to adversely affect a mortgage application?

It'll make you look a little less settled.

First Direct mortgages can be competitive so you might consider whether one of those would be appropriate for you. Their offset mortgages use the balance in the current account to reduce the amount on which mortgage interest is paid.

Thank James. I think I'll keep my current account where it is for now to play safe then. It would seem silly to possibly narrow my mortgage choice for a relatively small amount of money.
