Hi all,
Does anyone know if adding an excessive early termination fee is legal?
I am being persued by Lowell portfolio for Three mobile contract from 2009. The amount owed is only £40 which I am happy to pay, they have sent me a statement confirming I owe this amount.
However, they also added the following;
"we can confirm that an early termination fee of £109.08 was added to the outstanding balance unfortunately this does not appear on the statements enclosed. Neither Three Mobile nor ourselves are aware of any reason for non-payment."
do I have to pay this? It seems excessive and I thought any charges had to show on a bill in order to be enforced?
Or should I just pay the entire amount and get it off my credit report?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

account termination fees may or may not appear on the bill, its covered in your contractDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Could the early termination fee relate to the number of month outstanding on your contract?
I'm not sure about them but just an idea!0
