Nationwide free legal fees

Do I need my own solicitor or do they provide one for me? I am confused. I have had an offer accepted and now am unsure how to move forward. The estate agent has heard from the survey people but is waiting to hear from my solicitor before marketing it as sold stc. I am not sure what my next move is?

On a remortgage they provide one for you.
It sounds like you are buying in which case you will need your own solicitor /conveyancer and they should be on the approved list that Nationwide are happy to let work with them (which is usually not a problem). You will need to pay the solicitor their fees for doing the conveyancing on the purchase and Nationwide would be responsible for any "extra" costs due to the mortgage.
Note - most solicitors/conveyancer charge a set fee anyway (such as 0.5% of the property value or £399+Vat and disbursements) and don't charge extra for doing the mortgage paperwork too. The "free legal fees" comes more into play when you are just remortgaging.0 -
