My mortgage is with Ulster Bank / RBS and I have in the past asked if I could view my mortgage account online like I do with my other accts on online banking. The guy in the bank enquired for me but came back with a no but it may be possible at a later date.
Anyway was just wondering about this again and was gonna go in and ask but in the meantime was curious as to how many people with NI lenders can view their mortgage accts online?

I was looking for the same thing actually. I am currently getting set up with a mortgage with the Northern Bank, and I was told that I would have visibility of it on my online banking and be able to make transfers against it online too.

I am still finalising the mortgage, so I have yet to see if this is actually the case.

Northern's online banking does allow you to view and transfer into mortgage accounts.

Wish the Progressive would allow this - only savings accounts are available to be viewed online. :(

I'm with Nationwide and can view all my accounts online. While I realise that this is not a NI lender, in my opinion, they are the best fit for our own set of circumstances. We can view the mortgage account, savings account, joint account and my own current account. In one way it is good to see it online, as it is kind of an incentiviser not to spend money as you the see the amount of interest that has been added each day. On the other hand it pretty depressing, as we see every day how much money we owe the bank!!! We can transfer money into the account and take the money back out in the future if we wanted too. All by bank transfer online.
Not a big fan of the NI banks to be honest, We just didn't find them competitive for our needs.
  • Yeah im with northern bank and you can see mortgage online and as above do transfers into it. It's pretty handy like especially for me, as I can do overpayments into my mortgage type with no recourse.

Well I've finally got my NB mortgage sorted and can see it online. Already have tried and made a £25 overpayment using online transfer- pretty good job.

Nice to see every time I log on it reminding me how much I owe them-hmmm.

Does it show you the total mortgage amount you owe? Would be quite satisying to see that amount gradually decreasing as years go by :D

Yes it shows you outstanding balance, transaction history, accrued interest not yet charged etc, pretty much like a normal account.

Making a transfer is just like transferring to a savings account- although you can't transfer back out.
