Hope someone can help!
I am partway thro making Plum Chutney (Delias recipe, as recommended here!).
The recipe says that I have to suspend a gauze bag containing my cinnamon sticks, and allspice berries and whole cloves.
I have no gauze bag!...nor any muslin squares...
any ideas on what i could quickly fashion from normal household bits n bobs!!??
THANKS
Note to self: gather all required equipment, before embarking on chutney making!

Any sort of thin fabric should be okay e.g. an old tea towel or bed sheet. Or you could not bother with the bag and just fish out any big bits of spices at the end. The odd clove left in won't affect the chutney.0 -
David's response is good and you could also use a piece of old tights or stockings (well washed of course and very well rinsed to get out all traces of soap though this applies to any material you use - but if it's already clean several rinses in very hot water should be good enough)0
