Has anyone had dealings with this company? I ask because I have today received a letter from them. It refers to an old Lloyds account that is either statute barred, or very close to becoming so. The basics of the letter is that the debt has been sold to 1st Credit by Lloyds and it appears to be sent by Lloyds.
However, I have my suspicions about the origins of the letter. This is for two reasons. The first being the letter looks 'knocked up' and not genuine. The second reason is that I recall receiving correspondence from 1st Credit for my Lloyds account previously, possibly 4/5 years ago.
Is it possible they have sent this letter is desperation and it's just a rouse to encourage me to send payment?
Thanks in advance.

You need to check your CR, if its on there it is not Statute Barred.
If it isn't but only has a few months left, drag out the process, send a prove it letter and await response.29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422 £2575 £2575

I've just checked my credit file and the last payment was in Jan 2007 so I'm assuming that it would become barred in Feb 2012?
I should add I tried to deal with Lloyds and the other debt collection agencies they appointed before it got to that stage but they weren't interested. At one point I didn't have a penny to my name and borrowed money from family to make token payments. I think I offered £10.00 to them and I was told "If you can afford £10.00, you can afford £20.00"
On consulting the National Debtline they advised me to ask for the debt to be written off as I was ill and unable to work and couldn't for the foreseeable future. Since then I've avoided them as I felt I tried to make an effort but they were hell bent on making my life a misery which didn't help with my health either.0

Sounds like all they've done is inform you the debt has been assigned to 1st Credit. Ignore for now and see if they send anything of any substance.0

They'll know the debt is soon to be statute barred and may well start to bombard you will calls and letters, so tread carefully. If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

How so? If it's a case of ignoring it I can easily do that. I don't think they even have my phone number.0
