Default by Santander

I need some opinions on the situation I am in.

Recently I decided to buy a home and discovered I had a default on my account which I was not aware of.

I wrote to Santander regarding this with a lot of letters going back and forth. I have now had a reply from them saying that they need to see my credit report for proof that they have actually put a default on my account as they have no records of doing this.

With this being the case do I have a good chance of having it removed or is this a ploy to try and fob me off.

Thank you

No it no ploy to fob you off, they have no record of it. Send them the copy you have showing the Santander dfn so they can investigate it. What products have you held with them or there associated companies?
  • I had a student account with them in 2009 but I closed it in 2010 with no money owed.

I would dig out the old sort code and account number as I am sure you will find out this is the cause of the problem. How much is the default for? On your credit file does it not give the account number the debt is associated with?
  • I find the account number and the sort code and on my credit report it says it is for £1098.
