Online Butchers

Can anyone recommend a company like Riverford? Is it a cost saving way of purchasing meat?

OH and I would prefer where we can to get meat from a butcher, but have none local to us so wanted opinions on the web based ones. There are only 2 of us and as the meat will be better quality it goes further so we will need to eat less of it making it go further.

I use Donald Russell, I've had steak, chicken, lasagne, bolognese, steak burgers, in fact most things over the past year or so. I would recomend them. The delivery and service is very good and meat very tasty.
They currently have an offer on certain steaks with free delivery.
Not connected just happy customer, I think i first purchased from them following a thread on here

This is something I've thought about Bramble. If you try it let us know how you get on please.

Silvermaid - i like the look of riverford's meat boxes, so think I shall order the two person one next week and see how long it lasts - they reckon a fortnight and it's £50ish so within our £50 a week budget if it does last that long.

This week's box for an idea of what you get
box contents for week beginning 25th july 2011

    pork shoulder joint 1kg
    pork + herb sausage 450g
    back bacon 250g
    chicken breast 400g
    diced beef 500gpork belly 500g
    beef mince 450g
    whole chicken 1.8kg
    total weight 5.35kg

Just wanted to say thank you for the suggestion. I have placed my first order with them and the delivery is on Tuesday. It looks really good and I bought 2 of their box offers, bacon and ham enough to last a whole month (to feed 2 adults and 2 children) for under £60.00. That is pretty impressive!

    Thanks again,

I bought a load of stuff from Stilton the month before last and have just finished it. I have to say that the majority of the stuff was fantastic, however we didn't like the sausages and the frozen minute steaks were VERY tough. Otherwise everything was really tasty - so different from supermarket meat.
