Halifax Student Overdraft issue! Desperate please help!

Hi guys,

I apologise if you get a lot of threads like this, and I am not sure if this is the right place to post this. I have read this forum for months but never registered, but I have come into a huge issue and I am really hoping you can help.

I have a student current account with Halifax. I recently graduated (this month) and I am starting work in September.

I had a £3000 overdraft on this account and I was near the limit of it, and I rang them 4 weeks ago to confirm that I had another year interest free at £3000, they said it was put on.
HOWEVER! My overdraft has been dropped to £700 without any warning given to me, I only found out my logging into my online banking a couple of hours ago. I rang them immediately and said I have to wait and call back when their underwriters are in.

I understand overdrafts are repayable on demand, but this seems ridiculous to me. If anyone could offer any advice or help it would be much appreciated.

Hi, this happened to me on a standard account with the Halifax. The account was passed to their collections team and it was agreed they would reinstate the overdraft (mine was £1750 at the time that was reduced to £500) with my account to be held by collections and an arrangement of a monthly reduction to the overdraft was set up.

The overdraft had to return to zero and i was paying £65 a month.

The downside was that it showed as an arrangement on my credit file but i was still able to use the account for paying in salary etc.

    Hope that helps :)
