It's always like that everywhere. Cooked chickens etc are always separate stock and supplies as well. Everything has to be risk controlled with a full legal trail. They can't just go taking products from here there and everywhere and start cooking up.
Unless you're just a greasy back street cafe that is.0 -
I'm shocked at how many people eat in supermarket cafes :shocked:0

They eat there because you and your mummy eat elsewhere... soup kitchen maybe? There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Yup, everything is pre cooked. we didn't have a cafe in my work, but had a hot cabinet - all the sausage rolls e.c.t are all pre cooked and get bunged in the ovens as well as the in store bakery breads and cakes. all frozen! only stuff that came in raw was the bacon and the chickens.0

I much prefer to eat in independent cafes where the food is freshly cooked.
I'd never knowingly eat a precooked and reheated omelette or jacket spud - when I've seen them in Iceland I've always wondered who buys them. I can understand the food hygiene angle but yuck - I like freshly cooked eggs thank you very much.
Frozen or chilled egg fried rice I'll only eat if there's no possibility of a better alternative! I don't heat quiche and can't think of other egg products I would buy ready cooked to reheat at home.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

Sorry, I don't get your humour (if that's what it is) so I would stick to the day job if you have one.
I didn't think anyone with any kind of appreciation for food would eat the unkown substances served in a supermarket cafe. What do they serve, those classic good for you meals sausage/burger/beans and chips:rotfl:0 -

Even Gordon Ramsay's (allegedly) posh restaurants serve food that has been cooked in a central kitchen & then reheated.0 -

Yes but it's part of a chain, and a restaurant, so not independent or a cafe. Having some chefs name on something has never been a guarantee of quality in my experience.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
