Energy company, credit checks?

I posted this in another section of the forum but got no replies. Anybody got any experience/views? thanks
I'm going to be discharged from bankruptcy in about a month.
I've just applied for a customer services administrator role with an energy company. I don't know what one yet as it's through an agency online. I've got tons of experience in an office environment and I'm also educated to post grad so I'd at least hope to be in with a chance, especially as there's a few vacancies it would seem.
However, as I'm bankrupt and thus have a non existent credit rating have I wasted an hour applying?
If anybody's experienced of whether they conduct credit checks that would be great. I'll simply refrain from even bothering to apply for anymore in that sector should that be the case. The role doesn't seem to be involving cash handling from what I can gather. I guess I'd have more chance had I done time in prison hey?? LOL
