Changing DMPs

I've been with Churchwood Financial since May 06 but pay about £30 per month in fees to them. (I didn't check on here first from being blind with panic when the creditors started calling!! )

Has anyone had experience in moving to either Payplan or CCCS from another DMP, as I could be paying £30 more towards my debt each month which should make the creditors happy. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and hope all have a Happy New Year!

  • Havn't done it myself but I would move ASAP. That £30 extra will help a lot.

Yep, agree. Give CCCS or Payplan a ring.

I am too with a dmp that i pay a fee too, and i am worried about changing over, took me ages to sort the dmp out and all creditors have agreed to payments for another 6 months taking me to july, and all have stoped interest.
Its the first time in years i feel in control of my money, and i am worried if i change over, the phone calls and letters will start again.
I know its the right thing to do as it will be another £68 a month to throw at the debts, but i am so worried about changing over, and the dmp i am will are so helpful, they phone me every weeks to ask if everything is ok, helped me fill in court forms when i had them, and are really very good with me.

    I was with Debtcall.

I just rang the creditors and asked them for their bank details because "as from now, I'll be paying you direct." They were all happy with that and I haven't had any problems.

    Thanks Miss Cutie Pie,
Would you be able to give me a bit more information about how you did it, e.g who did you speak to first, how long did it take anything I may need to keep an eye out for?

Thanks again to everyone for your help.

My advice on stopping using Churchwood for your DMP.

    1. Consider using one of the free DMP people like CCCS - don't pay Churchwood for something you can get for free!

    2. Find some geographic telephone numbers for the collections departments of your creditors on www.saynoto0870.com to avoid costly 0870 numbers

    3. Inform all your creditors that you are not using Churchwood anymore and to remove their third-party authority to speak with the creditor

    4. Stop your standing order to Churchwood

    5. Write to Churchwood telling them you are no longer using them.

    6. Tell the creditors you will pay them direct and get their bank details

If 've missed something, hopefully someone will reply with extra guidance :)
