Scotrail kids go free - can you use with under 5s?

Wonder if anyone can help. I was thinking of taking the train through from Glasgow to Edinburgh in the next couple of weeks to take my two kids (both under 5) to Edinburgh zoo.
Now I realise under 5s travel free on Scotrail services anyway, but I was wondering if anyone has bought one of the Kinds Go Free tickets (which seems to cost the same as a normal cheap day return) so that they can use the "kids free entry" part for Edinburgh zoo (normal cost is £11 for 3 yrs olds and above) so that is money that could be used for lunch!:D

I havent done this but I'm sure I reead on another post somewhere that you can just pay the train fare for your child (as if they are over 5) if it gives you the greater saving elsewhere. Cant see why they wouldnt let you buy a kids go free ticket just because your kids already go free.
I wasnt aware of the free zoo entry so thanks - may go for a day with the kids myself!
