Thank you cards

Options
Have just given birth to DS3 so have a mountain of thank you cards to send on top of the Christmas thank you's for other DS's.

I've thought about sending photo ones, but have looked on bonusprint and the like and they're quite expensive (around £1).

Any ideas anyone, will probably be sending about 50!!

Thanks

Why not make your own complete with baby photo (or get DS to do a picture on the computer using 'Paint' or similar or even scan a picture he has drawn if you have a scanner)? ... very easy if you have MS Publisher (or similar desk top publisher program). Even MS Word would be possible (just set the page to landscape and put the text and photo on the right hand side, then print and fold the A4 paper in half). If you're reasonably confident using this sort of software it would be easy to do two or even three smaller cards per A4 sheet... you could then print on fine card or even glossy photo paper. I would think that would work out much cheaper than buying them! I'm sure no one minds too much anyway... I wouldn't expect anyone with a new baby to be spending a lot of time or money on this kind of thing!

If you're stuck and have either MS Word or Publisher you can email me a photo or picture and the kind of wording you want and I'd be happy to do something and email it back to you for you to try and print.

  • i used pixmania and uploaded a photo with an inch or so border on the right hand side - pixmania works out about 2p a print if ordered up to 15 prints and delivery if 99p - you can then write your message on the blank strip at side.
their prints were fantastic quality but do take about 7 days to arrive.
  • Hi not sure about the price but a friend of a friend!!! Had a baby and got baby cards made with their picture on it at an Asda photo shop! Unfortunately there is none near me so can't find out the price - but it might be worth a look!! HTH
  • I'd echo what Nenen has suggested... my DD made all her thankyou cards using Microsoft Publisher... she drew a picture of herself using Paint and then we just inserted the piccie into a blank card template. Fold it into 4, bit of glitter and they look fab. It's also easy to do a personalised message if you type each one individually....
    Have Fun! :)

    Hi

You could if you had time, put baby's little foot in some paint (or use either hand) and print a footprint. Obviously this can be quite time consuming but maybe you could scan it once you have done it then send it off to everyone!

Good luck, I am sure you will find an original yet cheap idea to suit you and your family.
  • i had inviations foe the christening from vista print worked out quite cheap with a photo opf my lil one

If you are near costco and have a card they do beautiful cards for £10 for 40 photo cards. Some of the larger stores now have the facilities to upload the photo online then just collect at store - so if you know someone who has a card they could do that for you. They have a large choice in themes colours etc and are excellent quality. The photo is inserted to a cream card so plety of space to write a message. I have used these as Thank you cards for my kids Christmas present a few times now.

    Thanks to all your suggestions.
Thinking of attacking (!) publisher and seeing what turns out.
Will definately get older DS's to make their own, although we'll probably be eating glitter for days!, most of the recipients will appreciate these I'm sure, just hope the older generation do!

    Thanks again.
