Just recevied their newsletter and in the sale is a Seagate 160gb External HDD for £59.99, reduced from £99.99.
Sounds cheap to me, here's the link to it.

I believe the good thing about the Maplin 160gb unit is that is is a Seagate.
As iceax has said - there is a 320gb unit for just £10 more (£69.99) at PCWorld (also Currys & Dixons) but this is "unfortunately" branded as Maxtor (elsewhere on MSE reliability issues have been raised over Maxtor drives)
Additionally there is a 320gb unit at Comet and Staples for the same £69.99 both of which are IOMEGA branded - as of now I have yet to determine what make of hard drive is inside this unit !There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

Veni, Vidi, VISA ! ................. I came, I saw, I PURCHASED

Other forums/web sites show the IOMEGA hard drive on offer at £69 is actually a seagate...
The Maxtor as indicated by quioa has got some REALLY bad reviews on line and support is apparnelty non-existance...
I too am in the market for at 300+ gb hard drive and am waiting for NY Day - normally get the one day specials then - consider https://www.play.com - they have BRANDED hard drives and good price + 2% via https://www.quidco.com
So anyone see some god deals on hard discs - think we may need a separate thread for usb hard drives?!Me i'm always after a good deal.. :rotfl:0 -
There was 320gb Seagates around for £79.99, they will be back soon enough cheaper I bet.
Don't buy this for that price.0 -

I'm watching for one of these external drives as well so it might be an idea to have ll the 'spots' together.

Hi
I saw this instore last week and with the £3.00 off for registering for the newsletter makes it a total of £56.99.
Also with maplin if you do not have a store the postage is free over £35.00 i believe.
Wondered what peoples views were on this if they have bought one as i think Seagate are a pretty reputable brand when it comes to hard drives, etc.

The one thing that worries me about Seagate is that Seagate bought Maxtor last year. Since then, a lot of Seagate badged devices are actually Maxtor. Maxtor suck. Make no mistake..... Hence, I'm very wary about Seagate.0
