Oh, thank you furry paws - I'm glad you understand my reasoning for juggling. As for the credit cards cutting the amount available, that is another thing lurking in the back of my mind.
Like you I keep thinking my mind is made up - and then panicking at the last moment.... but then I guess it's best to go into this a 100% comited.
Always the wise one with money previously it's amazing what a mess divorce can lead to - so much uncertainty and treading water until things are resolved. I'm so glad that's all over - this is nothing compared to that!
Good luck with your DMP - I'd love to know how you get on. If I go ahead it'll probably be with CCCS like Jillie. My reason for going with them is because they are the only ones that can accept such a small amount (£30 per month) - and to be honest they've been really good every time I've spoken to them. I've not spoken to national debtline at all though - I was just thrilled that CCCS would take me if I took that route! (which is looking more probable by the hour)

    hi Kaz!
just try stay positive about it all. and remeber you have all us to rant and scream out when it gets hard or just need a pick me up! i wish i'd found this site before we went to CCCS, not thta i would change a thing but just to be reasured that i/we werent the only ones in trouble. it caused me major stress and when i told himself i actually had to go to ASDA so i would shout or cry.. my mum has been great and usually sends me £30-£50 a month as a treat and prob for the first time in years have been open with her about our probs etc. just wish we can now do the same with his parents, who know somethings but not that we had over £17000 in debt that we struggled with...i think they think that our problems come from being sociable and drinking excessively (which we dont)! that will have to be New Year Resolution i think to own up to his parents...
anyway waffled on as usual :) £30 may be a little amount but hopefully will be able to improve over the year and remember every £30 paid is a step closer to being debt free!!

Hi Jillie, and thanks for your continued support - it means a LOT.
I've been trying to take some practical steps towards the DMP today - like opening a new account. I had hoped to open one with Alliance & Leicester (have a business ac with them that although dormant now, has never been o/d - but then never much activity).
When I was going through the application process it transpired that they are part of MBNA (they're bloomin everywhere) so I cancelled it (I have a lot of my debt with MBNA). If I did open an account with A&L do you know whether they could take the income that goes into it/freeze it/close it when I DMP'd on the other accounts? I've posted on the 'accounts' forum, but I'm wondering whether I ought to post it as a seperate question here as the members of this forum will have more knowledge of what happens during DMP (and I'm not sure this thread gets read much as I tend to waffle, lol)
Well done on telling your mam - I bet it feels soooo good. I try to tell mine, but while she knows I'm in 'shtoom' she doesn't know what I'm going through as with her living so far away there's never the time to talk. I think she still thinks that I'm strong and capable of sorting anything out - bellieves I can make anything right.
My only other close relative (my Uncle) on the other hand believes I'm a total walking disaster and that my money problems are because I'm a total spendthrift and waste of space :(
I can never figure that one out as we're so visibly poor!!!!
Mind, he has no children and part owns a company.....
I so wish I could make him proud of me - and boy would he be good at chosing the right way forward for me - but I daren't tell him of the mess I'm in as all he'd see is the high debt figures, and be cross at me... he wouldn't understand the 'why' IYKWIM.
Sorry, Jilliw, I've waffled again - but boy do I feel better for it (even though I'm crying, lol)

the guy i dealt with at CCCS said that if they own the bank they can take money from it to pay off another debt. i'm not 100% sure though may be worth a cll on tues to double check. i have posted an anser and a link (hope it works) to your question re accounts. i was lucky in that when i went to Lloyds, on the credit check i was ok (strange) so i did get the cheque book, debit card and overdraft if i wanted. but not sure if every bank would be the same.
    hey no waffle!! :)

Ooops - Madduck, I didn't see your post the other day, must've been in full waffle mode and cross posted. I had to chuckle at your comments re pretty colours on your cards. For me it was almost a 'status symbol' - oo, lok at me, I have credit cards - I must be doing ok.
I have found a few things on the national debtline page that concern me about interest etc, so I'll call CCCS tomorrow and talk that through with them. Hopefully it won't apply to me (fingers crossed)
Thanks for the links Jillie, I have found the sites/thread you posted - and in the meantime tried the A&L again. I don't know if I was seeing things last time or what - but there was no mention of MBNA this time.....???
That's another question for CCCS tomorrow - do they know if MBNA own Alliance and Leicester....
Right, I'm off for another scoot around the boards - just got back from the emergency dentist and have a very numb jaw.... think I'm going to have to drink my tea through a straw... :D
