Night before last I pulled out 8 chicken thighs (in tupperware container) and left on the side in the kitchen to defrost (good OSer me....)
Yesterday I spent far too long on here and forgot to cook said chicken thighs.... In fact, totally forgot all about them until I went to bed at 11:30, so they were still on the side.(bad bad OSer
)
I shoved them quickly into the fridge - but will they be safe to use today?
What are your opinions guys & gals?

I would guess that they'd be fine as you put them in the fridge before you went to bed. If they smell ok then I'd use them.

should be okay as the above poster says0

Cheers Guys - Unless they smell particularly bad I'll use them (thing is chicken allways smells yucky before it's cooked doesn't it?..... or is that just me??)January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far

I don't think that chicken has a strong smell. If it smells yucky I would be wary, food poisoning is not worth itKazonline wrote:Cheers Guys - Unless they smell particularly bad I'll use them (thing is chicken allways smells yucky before it's cooked doesn't it?..... or is that just me??)0 -
I always think raw chicken smells dodgy too, but you will def notice a bad smell when it cooks. so unless it really does smell bad when you take it out the fridge, try cooking it and see what it smells (and maybe tastes) like then!!!!0

i have done this a few times, and its always been fine, just give it a sniff beforehand0

You will certainly know about it when poultry starts going off. Stand well back and slowly bring the chicken towards the nose :rotfl: Phew!0

Yes, you can definitely tell if meat/chicken is dodgy. No mistaking the pong!

Hmm, yes, I remember now the stench of poultry that has gone off. It's not just a 'yucky' smell, but totally unbearable (like when you throw the skin in the kitchen bin but forget to empty it until the next day...._pale_ yuergh....)
Nah it's just at that normal 'yucky' stage - in fact I smell it when I go past the poultry 'butcher' in the market yeurghhhh. Glad I'm not the only one that smells it Catowen!
