Fake Shoes!

Options
Hi Guys

I’m new to this so please be patient with me. (I’ve posted once before months ago)

So I was browsing the internet looking for shows as you do! I really wanted to buy a part of genuine Christian Louboutin which cost in the reign of £500!

I was chuffed when I cam across a website offering a similar looking pair for £93.00! they said that they were the genuine thing! I entered my card details straight away and placed the order (I didn’t even stop to think hang on if it’s a legit site then surely they’d use paypal) wwwvictoriashoescom

The search was the second one recommended on Google!

To cut a long story short I’ve been sent a fake pair of Christian Louboutin shoes from china which I’m not happy about.

I do not want then and I’ve sent numerous emails to the address the dispatch note was sent to however nobody seems to be replying, yet when the order was placed they got in touch within a day!

The website says that I can return the shoes within 14 days however I will be charged for the shipping costs, but that I need to email them first for the returns address!

Is there anything that I can do or am I stuck with a pair of unwanted shoes and out of pocket?

Thanks in advance

Kitty

I just get a wordpress site with no shoes for sale

    http://victoriashoes.com/

It was almost bound to be fakes given the price you paid. Probably no point contacting the site as there will be in China. Maybe contact your card company and raise a dispute

    Bad reviews

Steer clear of this website. Yes - the shoes will arrive in good time, but they are 100% fake, and bad fakes at that. I ordered a pair of cristo wedges, and they are terrible. they smell of plastic and glue. on first glace, they look passable, but the quallity is terrible and if you look closely, the stitching is wonky and there is visuble glue between the seems everywhere. AVOID THIS WEBSITE. and any others that are similar for that matter. if there are multiple currencies to chose from, no phone number, and a 14 day return policy (these are just the main things) then the site is rubbish!!!

Your money is much better protected if you pay by credit card than through Paypal.

I know it is too late in the day now, but search rank on Google is not a recommendation and should never be treated as such. Although Google keep secret the exact methods they use (and they change them too) it isn't hard to get your chosen website to appear at or near the top of the ranking. Google claim paying doesn't influence search ranking and I doubt very much that these chancers would have done so even if Google are lying.

The standard suggestion of "If it seems too good to be true..." often applies but some con merchants are now pricing their fakes at only marginally less than the going rate to catch the people who know this mantra. For the future I'd suggest, if you have seen a website that is unfamiliar to you, you perform an additional search in Google of the format:
    "victoriaqueenshoes" -site:victoriaqueenshoes.com

(using this site as the example) This will bring up all the sites that aren't actually victoriaqueenshoes.com but that refer to it. If it is a well known fake site that will become immediately apparent, if not (as in this case, well apart from this actual thread :D) you should start asking yourself why it doesn't appear in any of the multitude of review sites that are out there. Now, it could just be that you've found a legitimate site and you are the first person to do so, but it rarely pays to be first. (Try the same exercise with net-a-porter.com as a "compare and contrast")

As savemoney says the thing to do now is to contact your card company and see what they have to say about it.

    Hi guys just an update!

So I've just come off the phone to my bank!

I've been told that I need to allow 30 days before they can dispute the amount. I also need to contact trading standards and the police to let them know I’ve been sent fake shoes.

The bank advisor said that I need to send the shoes back (although on the shoe website is says not to send back to the address on the box) and that do it via recorded delivery so I’m covered and also to take a screen shot of where it states this on the website.

Can I just call 999 to speak to the police? I just feel they’re going to think what a silly little girl calling about shoes! :(

Also what’s the best way to contact trading standards? I’m sorry if my questions sound silly I’ve just never experienced something like this before.

StumpyPumpy thanks for the advice I’ll definitely use this next time!

What ever you do, don't dial 999! This is not an emergency.
Look in the phone book for your local police station's number.

Ok, just wanted to make sure you saw that bit first, before I continued

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Consumerrights/index.htm is your first port of call for "trading standards" though the advice given you was incorrect. Trading Standards don't deal direct with the consumer "Consumer Direct" (the link above) do. Also, don't expect anything magical from the police. Ask them for an Incident Number. That signifies you have reported it and is what the bank needs, but beyond that not a lot will happen. Keep records of what you do and all communication. Don't rely on the website or anything else online remaining there. Details depend on your browser of choice, but in the File menu you will find an option that lets you save the page you are on. Do this for anything you think you might wish to refer back to.
