Sony RDR-GX120S.CEK DVD Recorder £100 at Comet

I had to take my Cyberhome 1600 DVD recorder back to ASDA as it had failed to recognise disks after just 3 weeks.

ASDA and Tesco stock the Sony RDR-GX120S.CEK for £149.99 and the reviews suggest that this is a good machine.

Comet are currently selling this model for £99.99 both in-store and online.

I've had my Cyberhome for about 8 months but I am now at the end of my tether with the b***dy thing. It won't recognise blank DVD's and now it has started not recognising prerecorded DVD's either. When I try and update the firmware it won't even see there is a disc in the drive. When it works it's great but it is working less and less as time goes on.
Every now and then Aldi get DVD recorders in which look good and have the bonus of recording the sound in Dolby 5.1. Usually the price is around £80 so I will return my Cyberhome to Asda, hopefully for a refund, and get one of those next time they have them.

Pricey for a very basic machine.

I would expect better specs than this for £100. Take the name SONY away and what have you got?

HD models with progressive scan cost very litle more than this.

It was never worth more than this IMHO.

    Just for comparison look here.

    Was £309.00 Now £169.01
