Second Stage at Saga

Hi All,

I recently had an interview with Saga and they emailed me today saying I had been successful and have moved on to the testing stage. I have no idea what this stage entails and Im quite nervous! Has anyone been through the testing stage at Saga? The position I have applied for is Care Coordinator. Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Carina

  • Saga are doing interviews/assessments that last all day. Does anybody know what they do in them?

I used to work for saga, firstly well done on getting that far.

They have a boom coffee machine that (when i was there) was free and you can get a sweet mocha out of it :)

They also used to have girls from the local college come round on a thurday and give you a shoulder massage whilst on the phones!!!!

So to answer you question (i worked in customer services for car insurance, so this may not apply to all areas of the business)

The interviews and assessments used to consist of the following:

1, Personality test - this is a case of 20 or so questions, each is 2 words and you have to select which is most like you, for example "life and sole of the party / introvert".. just be honest as it flags it up if you either take too long to answer

2, Random maths / problem solving style questions - this was 2 parts if i remember rightly, first part was a load of pure maths questions some basic arithmatic and some scenario based. The second part was spotting trends and patterns, so stuff like 1.4.10.22.?? which number comes next.

3, Interview, i went through an agency so did my actual interview with the agency but i'm sure full timers would have a "getting to know you interview"

To be totally honest, I have a personal theory on saga's assessment process. I think they will decide through the actual interview and your CV whether or not they want to employ you (assuming that you are going for a call center style role)

I'm convienced that the personality assessments and general testing is more about your ability to progress internally to other more senior roles and people that do well on these tests will be identified and progressed quickly.

I suggest that you find, either the post that someone did regarding interview techniques or just google interview questions and think of some answers that ARE NOT GENERIC and are genuine to you.

Prepare a few little speaches about who you are and where you want to be in 5 years, and how this role at saga will help you progress.

EDIT - just thought, if you need to do a group interview / scenario - they are using this to look for leadership qualities in a person. Someone of looks and all the information and then provides a solution. Do not get dragged into the arguements that always occur between people in the early stages

Just out of interest do you know where you will be based? the new building @westwood looks pretty plush
  • Good info to know. I wondered what Saga had to do with Ramsgate.
