Temp job with Contract OR PAYE - is this odd?

Thanks for your replies. I did talk to the chap at some length and explained my concerns. As I'm only travelling a short way each day and take my own lunch etc then he said it would probably work out better for me on PAYE, as he said that the contract rate was higher as it included what would otherwise be holiday pay. The company is The Carrington Blake Group (Recruitment side), of which I haven't heard but I'm Googling them. I think they must have found me through CV Library, as I don't remember applying to them directly, but with so many applications I can't say 100%.
