The question is in the title. Do direct debits which have bounced impact your credit report?

If the company record it as a late payment then they could yes, similarly if you go over your overdraft then the bank will record that.
Best bet is to ring the missed payment company and pay it over the phone, Ive done it a few times when money was tight.0 -
Sorry, if the bill was a utility, would the bank show the up as a bounced DD?29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422

They can do. The banks can choose to mark the account with a 1 marker if they had to bounce things to keep your account within its limit (which is the same effect on your report as a missed payment.)
They don't always do this though.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Oh no! Is there anything I can do so they don't?
I am might annoyed at E.on, I called at the beginning of the month to change my date for payment to be taken on 1st of the month instead of the 20th, ( I have one account solely for bills with a small contingency, this saves me spending more than I am able) E.on said, yes thats all changed. But today I receive a letter saying my direct debit could not be honoured! I was mortified! Rang E.on who said, I have no record of your call! But they did about the call the day earlier in relation to another matter!
I was very annoyed because I believe they have now screwed up any chance of me getting a credit card from Barclays! What can I do to fix this, it isn't my fault directly.
Any info would be great.29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422

Might be worth phoning the bank explaining what happened and asking whether they would be marking anything on your credit file (and if they say yes ask them not to). It might be that if it was just 1 item they won't mark it anyway (whereas if they have to bounce lots I would imagine they always do mark it on file) .A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Nope! I rang Barclays and they said they can see it is not my fault but as it is has already bounced they can't remove it off the credit file! Is this correct, or does the foreign chap I spoke even understand what I was saying???29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422

They could remove it, they can always remove something if they want to.
I'd wonder if he did understand. Maybe try looking for a number that will get you through to someone in the UK to see if you can negotiate with them?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
That is what I have done, I am waiting for a personal banker to call me back to help me, I tell you what...if my credit report is kaput because of E.on and their inability to take phone calls and record them correctly I am going to zap 15,000units of electricity up their bottoms!29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422

You'll feel much better after that! They suddenly have debt collectors chasing the company I work for for a debt going back 8 years, 4 years after the building was destroyed by fire! We rebuilt and think it may be a tenant, but as they went belly up a acouple of years ago, Eon not going to get far:DA smile costs little but creates much
