The cost of butter is ridiculous, I usually buy Butter Me Up, 500g from Tesco.
It's been on a 3 packs for £2 offer for ages, so i usually buy 3 packs at a time so we always have spares and can have it on most of our food.
Last time i went in to buy some though it was £1.50, for just one pack, and that was the cheapest butter i could find.0 -

Yes, when the thread started on 21-07-2011, basic butter was £1.27 at Tesco, and £1.10 at Sainsbury's and ASDA. Now on 27-07-2011 Sainsbury's have stuck their price up to £1.27, but Tesco have slashed theirs back down to £1.10 again.
That was true on the 27-07-2011, now it's back up to £1.21 at Tesco and ASDA, but down to £1.10 at Sainsbury's. (Although Tesco do have an unsalted version still at £1.10.) It's enough to make your head spin really.asda own brand butter £1.21 tonight

Anchor is now 2 for £2.00 in Tesco. Which means (of course) that you should still buy it in ASDA and APG it so that it costs you £1.80 for 2.0 -

Can anybody remember the ancient and very funny Norman Wisdom film, The Early Bird?? He was a milkman and Mr Grimsdale was his boss, and their horse. Then the evil big firm moved in on their patch and started sabotaging their milk and even nobbled the horse! This thread is making me remember that film and thinking its very true to life really, is how they operate. But the film had a happy ending for the little man and real life rarely does.0
