    Home plugs normally work if the connections you want to run are all the same side of the consumer unit. Better performance can be expected if not running through say six gang extension leads... try to use the plug direct to the ring main if possible. Sometimes there are problems where the ring main has lots of spurs and add ons or if the run being attempted is very long or on old wiring. If possible try a different socket and check results.
