Isit work the £297.99...this laptop is going to be used mostly for playing https://www.runescape.com  (no...not by me:p) so is there a cheap memory thing i can buy off the internet and fix it into the laptop for a memory upgrade?

  • £369.99 will buy you an Acer 3053 at Tesco.

A recent thread on MSE mentioned it, might be on the techie section

Wait a month in you can, there will be plenty of bargains about on old stock when Windows Vista launches at end of Jan. Vista will make the majority of laptops about now out of date, and stores will look to shift that stock I predict at low prices.
I don't think its worth while buying a laptop with 256mb unless you know which memory chip to buy and how much it costs - buying memory isn't that easy as there are lots of different types.
  • I have ended up buying the ADVENT laptop 1GB, it is on the front page of PCWORLD for almost 400 quid

If i could wait a month then i would, how low will the prices go? I thought there would be good price drops after christmas but i am having to buy this laptop for the kids because our other one got stolen which we had bought for 700 quid, and now my computer is playing with me so thats going to be costing me another 300 quid

Most if not all Celeron-M 300 series based machines run on DDR2 533 which is cheap as chips from https://www.lowestonweb.com . Cost me £25 to add 512mb to my Dell Inspiron 1300 a few months ago.

I did the same with my Inspiron 1300, and although not the most attractive machine, it does the job and the RAM certainly speeds it up! :D
