In what year did Bridgestone make its Formula 1™ debut (full season)?

I think it is 1997..here
Any ideas please as I'm not 100%,as I'm no expert on F1.
Only one correct entry per candidate is permitted. The question must be answered correctly before an entry to the draw can be submitted.
Each entrant with a correct answer will be in with a chance to win one of 100 Formula 1 posters (size 60x80cms), printed on canvas and framed. The image on the poster will be one of the six images displayed on the contest website. Contestants are not able to choose which image they wish to receive as a prize as the posters will be randomly distributed. The prize may not be exchanged for cash or products.
8. The 100 winning entrants will be randomly chosen by IT-software designed for this purpose. The automated draw will take place on 06/08/2011. The winners of the 100 posters will be notified by email following the draw, and the posters will be sent by Bridgestone at the latest by 21/08/2011.
