Banking child benefit DFW question!

As the title suggests, I am a DFW. This question covers benefits and banking so I didn't know where to place this topic.
Anyway, for the second month running I have had bank charges of £36 taken out of my barclays account. The problem is, this has taken my account into minus - what's more, it has eaten up the money which is for child benefit. The bank has taken the money literally as the CB has gone in!
The first month I accepted as a slap on the wrist, I didn't expect it again!!
The reason why my bank balance is so low is because I paid that very bank over £3,500 to finish my loan.
Has anyone been in this situation who could offer help?

Unfortunately not. The bank views all money going into an account as theirs if there are charges outstanding, they dont care that it's child benefit. The best you could possibly do is speak to the call centre and see if you can get a kind hearted soul to reverse the charges. Most banks will do this if there are extenuating circumstances such as this doesnt happen often or it would truly leave you in hardship. They can say 'no' to the request and there's not allot you can do about it. Can you borrow some money from a safe source such as family to square it up and stop it yo-yoing?Debt Free! Yeah, get a basic account like Natwest's Step Account for example. You can pay your CB into there to keep it safe.
Then go into a branch of your bank and ask to speak with someone, explain what has happened and see if they will reverse the charge.0
