So sorry if done this the wrong way - not used to posting on boards!
Partner and I went BK in July last year. I was working part time and he was full time.
I was discharged in January of this year and have since been able to return to full time work.
Partner had an IPA start in August last year and then in March this years was sent a new one which he agreed to.
SInce then, his hours have reduced and he is under notice of redundancy for December this year.
He has received a reduced IPA which we are told today will run for 36 moths from March of this year. (He was discharged in April of this year).
Can the OR do this? just keep starting the 36 months again every time there is a change of circumstances?
What hppens if partner receives a redundancy payout? (wont be more than 5k due to length of servie at company)
DOes my income increase have to be declared to the OR
ANy advice as to how we move forward with this very much appreciated thank you.

Your pay increases should be declared to the OR, as this affects the proportion of household bills percentage wise.0

Was his original IPA a surplus income IPA or a nil tax code IPA? from what i understand an IPA should only run for 36 monthly payments, however if the original was a nil tax code IPA then a surplus income IPA was agreed later then this new IPA will run for 36 months. Any new revisions will not change the length again.0 -
Thank you for responding so quickly, to answer:
We were told only increases to my partners income needed to be reported as I am now discharged - is this not correct and should OR have been advised of my increase?
He was originally on a nil tax code IPA then a new IPA was put in place - although at that time there hade been no changes to either of our income. We did object to first payment fgure which was sunbsequently revised when my partner reduced hours and less income.0 -
The nil tax code IPA and surplus income IPA are seperate entities and not related to each other.
The NTcode lasts until the end of the financial year of the year you went BR in and ensures that the IS gets your tax from Her Maj's men.
The surplus income IPA is when any surplus you have after your essential expenditure has been agreed goes to the IS. This last 36 payments from the the first payment. It can be altered up. down or suspended during that 36 months if your circumstances change. The suspended months count towards the 36 months.
Was the first IPA a NTcode IPA? and then the subsiquent one the surplus income IPA? If you feel the OR has made a mistake then get back in touch with them and talk to them about it.
Your DH will have to let them know of any changes to his circumstances within 21 days.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
