Mortgage advisor wanting to leave before 18 months of employment..

Problem is, my employer want me to pay £2000 towards the training I received and about £3500 as this was guarantee commission for whilst I was doing my training... It is in my contract however they forget to mention this to me...ever.

Is there anything I can do?

    Did you sign your contract?
Did you read your contract before signing it?

Can you see where this is going?

No offense but isn't a mortgage adviser used to dealing with small print?

Would they have to take it all at once or can you set up something with them for instance to pay back in installments? I mean if it was 2k then wouldnt be a prob but near enough 5,500.

Take your boss for lunch and tell him that you've reconsidered and would love to carry on working for him.

I think I'm gonna have to, July is my 7th month so its another 11. Its just employer I've been in talks with, I'm keen as mustard. I wander if I could invoice them with 5500 to pay for me on my first day!

If the other company are very keen to have you, could you ask them to pay the money for you?

Yeah you're not wrong to be honest. I'm gonna have to have a right old think.

I mean in your opinion, could a good lawyer find a clause in it do you think?
