Family getting loan application calls - but we have not applied!

Hi,

I am new here and hoping this is the correct place to post this. In the past two months two people living in the same household have had both a written letter and recently a phone call about our 'application for a loan' from two differant major banks.

The thing is, we have not been applying for loans and this has never happened before. Is this something to be concerned about?

I would check your credit report with both Experian and Equifax and Callcredit, too, for good measure - £2 for each statutory report - this may flag up some searches etc. which you have not made, in which case it may be worth writing to the bank who sent the letters stating that you have no association with any loan application and are concerned this may be fraudulent activity. It may also be worth registering with CIFAS (costs £25 I think)

Thanks for this, currently in the process of getting credit reports sorted. My mother is worrying like mad that something is going on, it will give her peace of mind if nothing else.

Maybe it is scammers, looking to get you to agree to pay upfront charges of £49.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
