hi all,
hope this is the right place to ask.
does anyone work self employed in their own car delivering parcels? i may have the chance or getting foot in the door with saturdays and holiday relief
im currently on income support as having treatment for cancer and will be taken off it in oct as son is 7yrs
it is 49p per parcel and you have your petrol out of that
i just need something for 16hrs for wtc
and im not up to working in offices or anything too physical and this seems perfect for me but cant be out of pocket
thankyou for any input

How many parcels? You'll probably have to deliver 30+ per hour to make it worthwhile0
-
she said it can be upto 60 a day, and she does her round in 3hrs but obviously i would be much slower to start with0
-
what is one of those????? lol0

I have a couple of friends who both tried that sort of work. Both gave up after about a month as they were not making any money. By the time you add up your petrol and vehicle running costs, I doubt you would be making very much at 49p per parcel either.0

You will need to change your car insurance to cover this type of activity which will increase it very significantly0
-
i asked her about the insurance and she didnt change hers but i would as i wouldnt risk it. i didnt think it would increase it much? i will ring them. dosnt sound like its worth my while. shame as its just the sort of thing i could do. i would imagine its very busy leading up to xmas as she delivers next etc
thanks for the advice, i might just do saturdays or something just for a bit of extra and to learn something else??0 -

Not doing 60 a day she doesn't. I've worked for parcel companies and the delivery drivers would take far more than 3hrs to deliver 60.
To do 60 in 3 hrs you're doing one every 3 minutes including travel between, getting the parcel out, waiting for someone to answer the door, signing the paperwork and going to the next one.0 -

So she is driving uninsured then. It will most likely go up £100's as you will be a courier and couriers are not a cheap insurance group even if you aren't using your own car.0 -
thankyou for the help. going to have to say no to it then i think0
