ok, so here goes,
since uni ive become very foolish with my money. i basically buried my head in the sand ignored all the phone calls and letters and tried to pretend it didnt exist.
ive got 2 overdrafts totalling £1800 and a credit card totalling £1000
havent made a payment in 2 years and i know its only a matter of time before they catch up with me.
im sick of running away from my debts and think its about time i turned things around.
has anyone been in a similar situation or can give me any advice to let me know if there is light at the end of this tunnel....
apologies for length of post but first time making a post on this and dont know what else to write.

hi,
larger overdraft is with northern bank and the other is with bank of ireland. i now have an easycash account with halifax because my credit rating is completly wrecked.
i want to get rid of these debts to try and fix my awful rating..0 -
Have you worked out a detailed budget to see how much you can afford to pay towards these each month? If not do that so that you know what you can afford.
Are the 2 banks still writing to you/chasing you? or debt collectors?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
its now debt collectors im afraid.
i start a new job on monday and its a £600 a month pay rise but im afraid of being really foolish with the extra money and being left with nothing as usual .
i have to really try and reign in my foolish spending as alot is taken up with traveling to and from work as i dont drive. new job is within walking distance so i should save even more money.
how do i go about contacting the people i owe money to can i just call them and offer a payment reschedule or should i write to them?0 -
set up a DD into the account you wish to pay off (if possible) , but set the DD to be on the day you get paid, so you dont have chance to spend it on silly things xO/S Debt: PL £[STRIKE]15207.34[/STRIKE] £9884.55; HSBC £4060.99; Tesco£1430.15; M&S £5990.17; Virgin [STRIKE]£5158.69[/STRIKE] £4210.14; Egg £4619.00; O/S = ££30,292.42 AIM - To Be Debt Free 56 months0
