Debt Management Plas as a student

Hi all,

I am just after a little advice, I have been on a debt management plan for a few years paying around £100 a month, But from October 2011 I will be a full time student.

I will be living with my partner as she will be working full time, I have a little bit of money saved and I am looking for a part time job but was wondering if anyone had any advice on the best way to revise my debt management plan.

As I will technically not have and income (I dont qualify for a grant) I am worried if I tell payplan they will say they can no longer help me. But I may struggle to make the payments until I have found a job.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

Kris

    Hi

Payplan would probably allow you to reduce your payments below £100 for a while, but if you need to drop to token payments then they will probably suggest that you do this yourself, though they will probably provide you with template letters to use etc (if they don't then there are plenty on national debtline website).

How long is your course? Will you qualify for student loans?

I guess you might also want to talk to payplan about whether another option (such as bankruptcy or a DRO) might be more appropriate if its a 3year course.
