new years supper with the in laws - help

Hi Guys
looking for some help please have invited the in -laws round for supper new years day
(dont know why ) i adore them but they are very fussy thats a bit harsh but very foody .I have a menu in mind of nigella's coke cooked ham as i already have a gammon bought cheaply o .Also for pudding key lime pie as i have just bought 16 limes in sainsburys for 16 p .So looking for help with starters and what to put with the ham ,the cheaper the better.thanks

Have had the coke cooked ham and it's delicious, can't remember off the top of my head what we had with it but I think it was something like mashed potatoes and green beans, how about a homemade soup for starters ?0

soups looking good .was thinking of smoked salmon offcuts on blinis with sour cream and chives but home made soup and bread maker roll's sounds good0
