Sycophants! Do you win?!

Recently I have noticed alot of fawning by people in the comments sections of magazine/facebook/blog comps etc, pleading to be the winner.
Surely this is a waste of time?! Has anyone actually won because they've pointed out just how much they *need* to win something?!
And I'm not talking about the comps that ask directly why you should be the winner.
I'd like really like to know!!

I noticed that as well. I was starting to wonder if I was supposed to leave comments. Only started using FB a couple of days ago - purely for comps and nothing else.0

Irritates the hell out of me. Fair enough if you point out its a prize you want but when the sob stories start...ugh.0

Ok - I only glanced at this, but I read it as 'Elephants' and I wondered what competition an elephant would enter?
Doh.... it's been a long day.Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

I'm not criticising by the way, if it works good on them! I just am really intrigued, takes me long enough to do all the comps I want to without having to write a comment to go with all of them (making sure to add in facebook and twitter usernames, natch)
p.s thesim, your sig made me chuckle, keep up the hard work.Best win 2011: Maldives Holiday!0 -
I just think its awful, some people really do beg to win, what does it make you look like!! Just makes me cringe really.
I don't comment unless it asks in the competition, and even then there's not a whiff of a sob story!Best wins so far

I'm not criticising by the way,
Your title would suggest otherwise?
Personally I don't worry too much about what others are doing. Jeez if I was to read every comment under every comp doubt I would ever get any done myself.
If the comp requires a comment I usually just put whatever comes into my head first.
Karma and lots of luck is whats needed plus putting in the effort and entering comps.
More time spent complaining about others = Less comps entered.
Good luck0 -
i must admit before i have said how much i would love to win the prize but thats only if they say underneath comment ad tell us why you would like to win , i havewon things on facebook before when people have begged and i havent wrote anything i think its just luck and he end of it x0

I've won quite a bit on Facebook and never used any sort of pleading or sob story! I've won a dishwasher, £100 shopping vouchers, a goody bag full of chocolate and cosmetics, £50 goody bag, another goody bag, 2 dresses, a top, more cosmetics, DVD's etc. Maybe there are some pages which take note of that, but I think its usually at random.0
