PPI - could I claim?

Hi all

Possible stupid question. We have PPI on our mortgage and council tax with GI Secure. My other half has a fixed term contract that is coming to an end. Would we be able to claim when his contract ends (I remain in permanent employment)?

Many thanks

M

What do the terms of your policy say about fixed term contracts?

Now you're asking! I'll have to check the policy when I'm at home.

... and when you took out the mortgage and the insurance, was your partner in a fixed term contract?

If he was, and they suggest they won't payout because of it, I'd say he was never eligible for it in the first place.

He was actually on a temporary contract when we first got a mortgage. It was only 2 years after that he got a job with a fixed term contract.

Ask the insurer if he was/is covered for temporary and contract work. I'm pretty sure the answer will be no. In which case you'd appear to have a strong claim for mis-selling on the basis he would be ineligible for the cover from the outset.

    Thanks all.

Looking through my policy documents the PPI I have is Disability cover, so it seems this wouldn't be covered anyway.
