I've been sweeping my debts under the rug for the past few years and it's taken me a long time to come around to the actuality.
My debts include £1,750 rent arrears and £600 council tax arrears.
The total sum of my debt is approximately £7k.
I've decided to apply for a DRO through National Debt Helpline, who I've already been in contact with.
I still have intentions to pay the arrears on my rent as I'm in contact with my landlord on a daily basis and is close to taking further action if a payment plan to his liking is not made. To satisfy this, I'm having to sell some of my assets.
I suppose I'm posting here for reassurance that a DRO is the right option for me, as it is not realistic that I can afford to pay these debts after my monthly pay.
Thanks.

You should speak to the consumer credit counselling service and citizens advice as well to discuss your options. A dmp may also be suitable, so get advice before doing anything. If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
