Today's Great Deal Voucher Use

Options
Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me. This is rather a long story/saga but it's necessary to explain the situation I need advice with.

I purchased two vouchers for hair treatments through Today's Great Deal (Glasgow) in April. It initially seemed that the provider was oversubscribed for this deal, as they also ran a Groupon deal at the same time. When I phoned to make an appointment I was told that I had to email instead as they were very busy.

I initially sent an email to ask for an appointment in May. It took at least 5 working days to receive a response to this email. I was told that I could not get an appointment when I wanted one as there were no available appointments. I then tried to email regarding an appointment at a later date and it appeared that my emails were being ignored. I then, much later, received a response to a further email apologising for this and saying that the email address they had been using had been spammed and they were no longer using it.

I was then asked to provide a phone number for someone to contact me to arrange an appointment, which I did. When this person called I advised that I would require an appointment after work now, as I had already had time off. I was advised that they would not be able to provide this and told to email them again when I could arrange a date that was more suitable. I then emailed them to try yet again to arrange an appointment and my contact was again ignored. I had become fed up with this and then emailed Today's Great Deal to ask for their assistance with the matter. However, they only forwarded my email to the management of the company.

I then received contact from the management and I asked for a refund, as it seemed impossible to arrange an appointment which was suitable for me which they could accommodate. I was told that they would not provide me with a refund as they had a 3 month window to use the voucher.

The voucher expires in early August and again the company are not responding to my emails to try to arrange an appointment.

I was just wondering if there is any way that I can take this further to get my money back as I have spent £64 on these vouchers, which it now seems I will be unable to use before they expire.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Could you go to the salon and pin down the manager/ess and the appointment book in person?
My reckoning is that they make their money out of people buying and not using these vouchers, so do your best not to hand them free cash, good luck!
  • My friend has managed to track down another phone number so going to try that tomorrow. Going on holiday though so would need them to extend the voucher now! Fingers crossed!

    Thanks.

Contact Today's Great Deal as soon as you can and let them know what has happened and ask for a refund. There are hairdressing offers almost every day so you could get another easily.
  • I contacted Today's Great Deal around a month ago but all they did was forward my email to the management at the salon, who have refused to give me a refund. I gave contacted them again as I have still not had a resolution from the salon but this time they have not replied at all. I paid for it using my credit card through paypal and I'm just wondering what my rights are with regards to a refund. Don't really want to go now, as it's for highlights/colour and cut and I'm worried that with the hassle I might not get a good job done on my hair!

    Thanks

Don't know your rights re paypal refunds but there is a lot of talk on the ebay forum about how they process refunds and they seem to be on the side of the buyer not the seller. Might be worth putting a post on there and would try contacting them. You don't have a lot to lose.

sallycinnamon99 - unfortunately you are not the only one that is being given the run around by todaysgreatdeal.com.
I bought a three facial dermabrasion deal for £29.00 which is a lot of money for me (single parent) which should have been 45 minutes each. I only ended up getting two (half-hearted) facials for 25 minutes each. I was also ill-treated and felt threatened. I have written to todaysgreatdeal.com twice but no response. I am with other companies - kgb, groupon, living social - but have had no hassle from any of them.
I'm taking legal advice from my local law centre.
  • Have a new way of dealing with these offers. I phone up to book an appointment before I buy the deal and if they are awkward or rude I don't buy. Was a good hairdressing deal near me a couple of weeks ago and they were not nice on the phone so I didn't buy. I think a lot of places are having to do this to keep business ticking over but they are not happy about it. I always thought it would be a good way to get new customers but many of them treat you so badly they will never get new customers.
  • I don't know about todaysgreatdeal.com. but I do know that a number of places who have 'offers' through these voucher companies will give you the offer price ( when its on) direct without having to buy a 'voucher', as the companies themselves have to shell out quite a subsantial sum to the voucher company issuing the vouchers 'per' voucher!
  • hi there! i am having a simiar issue is it okay for someone to give me a number for todays great deal if anyone has one? please!

they have charged me for a voucher but not given me the voucher or even noted on my account that i bought it!

    Thank you!
