Additional borrowing on Lifetime mortgage

My Dad has a lifetime interest only mortgage (he's in his 80's) and wants to be able to borrow a little bit extra. Is it possible to apply for additional borrowing on this type of mortgage, presuming there is sufficient equity in the property?
If it is possible, do they require a new valuation etc, as if you were remortgaging?
