Did anyone buy the Phillips 1GB MP3 player?

Hiya

Did anyone buy this when someone posted the link a few weeks back?

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5133192.htm

We did and when dh opened it today there is no software with it!! Unfortunatly I can not find my reciept so I don't think Argos will do anything

Did anyone else have this problem?

Thanks S

  • Hi, Just in case this helps, I have had several similar mp3 players and to be honest the software with them is rubbish anyway, if you have windows XP you 'should' be able to just plug it in and copy your folders/mp3's onto it via windows explorer, or possibly with windows media player. I have never used the software with these things myself, so if they wont take it back, I wouldnt feel too bad, you should still be able to use it fine, xp will just see it as a removeable hard drive. Let me know if you have trouble, I may be able to help..
The software is only really neccesary if you have windows 98.
Hope this helps you (plus you can probably get the software from the net somewhere anyway? maybe manufacturers site?)

What's the model number? IS there any chance of downloading it direct from the Philips website...

Edit: I just looked and I could only find updated firmware here, by the wording I assume this is to update what you have, and not an "instead of". They might have more options on the site however, and could be worth asking, I didn't check too much as there's I think 3 which look similar on that site but may not be identical...

I bought it for my Dad for Christmas when the offer was on some months back. It had the software CD in the pack but we didn't need it as using Windows XP! Just plug it in to a USB and the computer found it, just transferred the tracks to it!
