My DMP journey

Well here goes.......

Sent letters to my creditors about 6 weeks ago, been waiting for new statements to come through. In the meantime received demands for payments (even though only behind now on one 2 end of this month), internal default notices etc.

Now Ive sent the paperwork off and received an email from CCS to day saying that they will be sending letters off now to my creditors.

I actually feel better now as I was getting quite upset regarding the letters etc and was feeling that I wasnt getting anywhere.

Last week though just cried and cried and was even sent home from work as I couldnt speak to anybody without breaking down. Was asked if I had any stress (lol) but couldnt tell anybody, although I have now been informed I have an underactive thyroid which may be haivng an impact on my depression.

Just hope now I can see a light at the end of the tunnel instead of it being blocked off. If they freeze the interest 7 years to go.

Michelle

    Good luck michelle

Hope it goes well for you, and glad you are feeling a bit better now, hopefully in a couple of months you'll be feeling a lot better. Just remember if you do get a bit of hassle from your creditors for the first month or so this is normal and they will soon ease off when they realise you are in a DMP and not going to be paying them anymore.

    Thanks for your replies folks.

Just received a reply from CCS who have now set up the plan and will be sending me a pack out. So thats a start. Received a letter from FOS that Lloyds will be refunding my ppi on a credit card from 2001 - so that will sort out of a cople of small debts.

I should be so happy but Im once again being sent home from work, all Ive been asked for is to print something out and I cried - to all those who read this and have felt the way I do let me know how long these anxiety feelings last cos I think I may be losing it and at my age its not good
  • Oh Michelle :grouphug:I am sure there will be many many many more people that will come along soon and back me up when I say the first few months are horrible - you go through every emotion swinging from one to the other as each letter, telephone call, default notice plops on your doormat.

I too was like you elated one minute and so positive as I was finally dealing with things and facing up to it all and the next in floods of tears and not sleeping/eating/functioning because I just couldnt see a light at the end of the tunnel, that they would never stop adding interest and charges and I would be dead and gone by the time my debt would ever be repaid.

9 months on I can honestly look back and say I wish I could have told myself not have worried, or shed any tears over these vultures. Things do calm down, you may have to challenge things they send, or plead several times for them to stop interest (and even then they may only do for while or not at all) but never give up the fight. You have took the hardest step contacting CCCS - dont be afraid to call them for support when you are feeling low - they are lovely people who are full of advice or look on this board - the advice on here is priceless and if you cant find what you are looking for just ask - the people on here are either starting, half way through or have been through the same thing you are going through.

One thing I know is that you aren't alone and you have found the best support group ever on this board - we are all in the huge boat together but boy are we paddling for that shore - yes it gets rough sometimes but never ever ever stop paddling - you will get there :).

    Take care. P x
