Solicitor and Conflict of interest?

I am in the process of buying a house and have now nearly decided on the solicitor to go with. The estate agent has asked me to provide them with Solicitors information for sending the offer acceptance letter but also mentioned that the seller wanted to know if the solicitor is local. I am concerned that if the seller also uses the same solicitor whether there would be any conflict of interest. I would appreciate any advice that can be provided. Thank you in advance.

It might be 2 solictors in the same firm but you do not normally get a solictor working for the buyer and seller so stop worrying0

When I bought our current place, the vendor and I had a long-standing relationship with the same firm. We used different solicitors in the same office.
If you don't have that relationship, the convention is that you use different solicitors in different offices.I am a mortgage broker. Solicitors cannot generally act for buyer and seller, albeit there are some circumstances in which they can. They are governed by the rules of the Solicitors' Regulation Authority on this: http://www.sra.org.uk/rule3/#r3-070
