Hi everyone - I just wanted to share with all you old-stylers my thanks for helping me make my first proper looking (and tasting) loaf of bread in my breadmaker. Ive had a Bush deluxe breadmaker for years and never managed to make a loaf that looks like its risen properly until today
. I seem to have been adding too much yeast and it was only after reading the breadmaker tips from the OS gang that I realised thats what I'd been doing. So thank you thankyou thank you :j :j :j

Well that's good news and bad news.....
The good news - well done for persevering and getting there - that is very much in the spirit of OS.
The bad news - you've got to keep it going now cos the shop bought stuff is nowhere near as good IMHO
Congratuations

Cheers - you're right about the shop bought stuff not being as good - it also means I have to restrain myself from eating it, however my friends are going to be impressed

Well done skintlass!
If you have children and they are very young, teach them NOW to eat good homemade bread, otherwise it will happen like with mine, used to shop-bought bread and whinging when I made it by breadmaker! In the same way that my kids love homemade pasta sauce (tomato sauce) and will NOT eat shop-bought, because I always made it at home.
Now you gotta try making bread by hand, it is a lot of fun and you can really be creative with a variety of different ingredients and recipes!
Good luck

Well done! I have also started making bread thanks to this site. We are just finishing the bought bread in the freezer. Can't wait - it tastes SO much better than bought bread, and is cheaper :TSave the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!
