  • Not sure but in long run it is definately cheaper to buy rechargables - I get ours from Wilkinsons as they are reasonable not sure if anywhere else has any deals on.

Lidl and Aldi regularly do packs of Nihm rechargeables for £1.99, Packs have 4 AA or AAA, 2 of C and D, 1 of PP3 size. They are all high capacity.

Halifax Aldi still had some last week.

Poundland or Home Bargains for Alkaline or watch batteries 50! to the pound

  • Froogle is one of my favourite ways of shopping around.

If you can get the keywords right, then do a value search (low to high) you can get some good results.

    Try this.

Ikea have quite cheap AA batteries if you're passing.

I recommend alkalines over other disposables. For really hungry stuff, high capacity NiMH rechargeables (2500mAh or more) are worth it.

I'd like to buy brand batteries from ebay. Totally cheaper than shops (if you want a good brand one). Though wilkinson's is cheaper than duracel, but much shorter life too.

You can get cashback from any cashback site you are its member by using buy it now option too.
  • Wilkinsons do have very short life. I usually get mine from the supermarket when there's a deal on. Ebay is also a good suggestion. About year ago, I bought a battery in a shop for a remote control and found it was too big but had already opened the packet. I am currently selling it on ebay. Don't expect to get much, but at least someone will have the use of it. There must be a lot of other people who this happens to.
  • I bought a load of cheap aa and aaa NiMH batteries off eBay a while back and they've been great. It's not just that they're rechargeable and save money, it's the fact that you've always got some in the house when you need them. It's worth having some cheap Alkalines on hand for stuff that's likely to be forgotten down the back of the sofa like cheap kids' toys and low power things like remotes and clocks.
If you get rechargeables try to get the ones with a free plastic cases that hold four together. If they're loose the flat ones will get mixed up with the charged ones or lost.

    Amazon.co.uk

You could even checkout your local market stalls, if you have any where you live!
