Advice on tax for advertising earnings

Hi,
I'm looking for some advice from those more knowledgable than me!
I run a couple of websites and have recently started to make some money from them. At the moment, I'm making around £100-£200 per month, mostly from Google Adsense (an advertising program, advertisers pay Google then Google pay me to display the ads on my website), there is also some earnings from Amazon's affiliate scheme. As well as this, I'm making some money from selling websites to other people or designing websites for them.
Where am I likely to stand when it comes to tax? Until recently my online earnings have been low enough that I haven't been worried about tax (until a couple of months ago I was just earning the odd £20 here and there). Should I be registering as self employed? I work in a full-time job, where I earn £20k salary, would I need to inform my employer?
I understand that when you're registered as self-employed, there are certain expenses that you can then write off as business expenses, can anyone tell me how this works?
Apologies if this is the wrong section.
Thank you in advance for any responses, I just don't want the taxman breaking down my door!
