Need to make a wig for NY eve - any ideas how to make one OS?

Ok, trying to think of some ideas for fancy dress for New Years Eve - the theme is comedy characters... I thought Marge Simpson would be quite easy (ha!).

This means I'll have to run up a dress on the sewing machine which Im sure my nible fingered auntie can help me with....but I have no idea how to make the wig....They are probably £25 in the fancy dress shop, just wondered if anyone had any better ideas of how to make a foot high blue curly wig!!

(see below for pics of marge!!)

how about an old pillowcase sewed to fit the diameter of your head dye it blue then go and buy some blue wool and one of those tools they use to make latch rugs with and pull the blue wool out all over the pillow case:confused: and stuff it with old socks etc to fill it out it probably wont look like what you are after but its worth a go just for the laugh if nothing else :rotfl:

Might be a bit heavy after stuffed so I'd go for something quite light to stuff it with.

or you could just sew the blue wool on and swirl it up into a sexy little hairstyle:rotfl: and hold it with kirby grips:happylove

  • An old pair of tights stuffed with something and stiffened with a wire coathanger in the middle to give the structure and painted blue or wound with blue wool would be my choice.

Or maybe a coathanger 'construction' to get the height with a pop sock stretched over it and blue cotton wool glued on all over? Or maybe spray paint normal cotton wool? PVA glue to set it
